Product overview
Set the water temperature degree by degree and time your brew
The HARIO Lyra ECK-80 electric pour-over kettle lets you set a heating temperature from 38–100°C in 1°C increments. Its slim, curved spout helps you pour close to the coffee grounds, while the base offers a stopwatch and countdown timer for timing pour-over coffee or steeping.
Options that include the kettle are available in Black ECK-80-B or White ECK-80-W. Both have an 800 mL usable capacity and a 300 mL minimum fill, and the kettle can be returned to the base from different directions.
The handle, body and spout work together for pouring
The slim, curved spout brings the tip close to the coffee grounds to help you control where the water lands. The rounded handle has no sharp corners and accommodates different grips. The slender body is designed to reduce the movement of water inside as you lift and pour, making the pouring motion easier to manage.
Keep favourite temperatures and brew timing on the base
Five preset slots store your usual water temperatures, so you can return to your settings when switching between coffee brewing and other hot-water uses. Use boil for one-touch heating when you need boiling water. For pour-over coffee, the stopwatch tracks elapsed time; for steeping or cooking, the countdown timer signals the end.
Details for removing the lid, setting down and wiping clean
The lid has a sealing ring and a flat knob, so it can rest upside down on the table after removal. A silicone cushion underneath the kettle softens the impact when you set it down. The base's tempered-glass control panel has a flat surface for convenient daily wiping.

Use and cleaning
First use and heating
- Place the base on a level, stable surface. Before first use, rinse the inside of the kettle, boil one batch of fresh water to 100°C, check that it operates correctly and discard that water.
- Lift the kettle off the base before filling. Add 300–800 mL of water without exceeding MAX. Position the lid’s steam vent towards the spout, close the lid, and make sure the kettle bottom and power contacts are completely dry before returning it to the base.
- Press on/off start to switch on. Press +/- or preset to select the target temperature, then press on/off start to start heating. To boil water, press boil to start heating directly to 100°C.
- The indicator is red during heating. It turns green and signals when the set temperature is reached, then keeps the water warm for 15 minutes. After use, press and hold on/off start for about 2 seconds to switch off.
Keep the lid closed during heating and heat only fresh water. Use the appropriate brewing equipment for tea leaves, coffee grounds, milk and other liquids. When lifting or pouring, keep clear of the steam vent, body and spout, and take care around the spout tip.
Keeping water warm and KEEP
The kettle keeps water warm for 15 minutes after heating. With the KEEP switch on the back of the base enabled, a kettle that has reached the set temperature and then been lifted will reheat to that temperature when returned within 10 minutes. The illuminated KEEP label confirms the setting. If you lift the kettle before it reaches the set temperature, you must restart heating after returning it to the base.
With KEEP off, returning the kettle after lifting it does not automatically restart heating or keeping the water warm. To change the temperature while the kettle is keeping water warm, first press and hold the power button to switch off, then switch on and set the temperature again. For settings of 99–100°C, the manual states that the water is kept warm at approximately 98°C.
Favourite temperatures and timing
- Five favourite temperatures:The initial preset values are 95/90/80/70/60°C. Select the slot you want to change, press and hold preset to edit, adjust with +/-, then press and hold preset again to save.
- Stopwatch:Press time briefly to start counting up, and press it again to finish. After 9 minutes 59 seconds, the count returns to 0 and continues cycling.
- Countdown timer:Press and hold time for about 2 seconds, use +/- to set a time from 10 seconds to 9 minutes 50 seconds, then briefly press time to start. Brief presses of +/- adjust by 10 seconds; holding adjusts by 1 minute.
- Display and alerts:Controls on the back of the base let you switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit and use MUTE. MUTE silences button and heating completion sounds; the countdown timer’s completion alert still sounds.
1°C is the temperature setting increment. The manual explains that the displayed and actual water temperatures may differ because of the control method and operating environment.
Cleaning and storage
Switch off, unplug and let the kettle cool before cleaning. Wipe the exterior and base with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, wipe with a cloth moistened with diluted neutral detergent, then with a well-wrung cloth. Do not rinse or immerse the kettle exterior or base, and do not put the electric kettle in a dishwasher.
White scale inside the kettle comes from minerals in the water. To descale as instructed in the manual, fill to MAX (800 mL), mix in approximately 30 g of citric acid, boil with the lid open, leave for about one hour, then discard the water and rinse thoroughly. Gently wipe away remaining deposits with a sponge. If an odour remains, boil fresh water once more and discard it.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and organic solvents, and do not press or strike the temperature sensor at the bottom inside the kettle. Protect the base’s reinforced glass from impact, scratching and sudden temperature changes.
