Entering the World of Specialty Coffee
If you are considering exploring specialty coffee, PMQ Coffee Agenda 2023 is a starting point not to miss. Alongside a range of home coffee equipment, it brings together coffee beans from multiple local brands, offering many flavours to experience in one visit.
I unexpectedly began this coffee journey ahead of schedule. I had planned to visit over the weekend, but an unplanned free day made me one of the first explorers. Here is what I saw.

An Excellent Introduction to Specialty Coffee
If you are thinking about beginning your specialty-coffee journey, this market is an accessible place to start. A coffee-focused exhibition of this scale is uncommon in Hong Kong: it features home coffee equipment as well as distinctive beans from local roasters and brands. You can walk through every corner of PMQ in one or two hours, or stay longer if you want to explore in greater depth.

How This Year's Highlights Compare with the Previous Market
Compared with my visit last year, this market appeared to have grown noticeably in both exhibitors and coffee equipment. I found more pour-over tools and espresso machines, along with on-site brand promotions. There was also a coffee exhibition area. I did not see an activity taking place in the central area on opening day, but expected more interaction and experiences over the following days.

A Diverse Crowd at the Market
I noticed that there seemed to be more coffee-bean exhibitors than last year, while the visitors were also more diverse, including older people encountering specialty coffee for the first time. It made me wonder whether specialty coffee was reaching a wider range of ages and communities.

Looking Ahead to Coffee Culture
I hope Hong Kong will one day host a large coffee exhibition like those in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Europe, giving more people the chance to experience and explore coffee's diversity in person. For now, attending the coffee market at PMQ is already rewarding, and I believe expectations for coffee culture will continue to grow alongside people's interest and enthusiasm.
I hope this quickly prepared account offers some useful information and impressions. Even if the writing is unpolished, I hope my enthusiasm and anticipation for the coffee market come through. Thank you for reading, and see you at PMQ Coffee Agenda at PMQ.
