Why do we sometimes prefer the same Sharing Cup for tea?

For some coffees, the aroma is too strong for us when we drink them from Sharing Cup Beta. Certain anaerobic, specially processed or dark-roasted beans already have very pronounced flavours. Drinking them from this cup may not give us the experience we want that day.

With tea, we found something else to enjoy.

Shuixian, jasmine tea, English black tea and mint tea are all teas we have tried in Beta and found easier to enjoy. With these drinks, the prominence of the aroma suits our taste better. The same cup can have different places in everyday life with coffee and tea.

You can like a cup for just one way of using it

These impressions come from everyday drinking; we have not made a detailed comparison between cups. What we want to share is a practical discovery: when one pairing does not suit your taste, trying a drink you already like may help you find a use you enjoy more.

If you have a cup you love looking at but find that a particular coffee always tastes too forceful in it, there is no need to decide its fate just yet. If you have tea you normally drink at home, brew it as usual next time and pour a little into the cup.

Keep your familiar brewing method so you have a starting point you can easily recall. You do not have to search for more aromas or score two cups against each other. Simply notice whether you enjoy the sip and whether you want to use the cup for the next one; that is enough to help decide its role. Follow the existing care instructions, and if you still prefer your original cup afterwards, use that one.

Sometimes the way you drink is part of what you enjoy

Sharing Cup S gives us a different kind of enjoyment. Small refills and little sips are a rhythm we enjoy when drinking tea. We also like the touch of elegance this brings to English black tea and other Western-style teas.

So there need not be one fixed answer to which cup to choose. When we want to sip slowly, S suits our habits. When we want a different aroma experience, Beta with the teas above is a pairing we are happy to keep using. That preference can be quite specific, and it can belong to only a few drinks.

If you want to use the same cup for coffee and tea in turn, read about cleaning a shared cup and when separate cups make sense. If you are still getting to know the cup shapes, take your time exploring the Sharing Cup range. Thinking about how you normally drink makes it easier to find the cup you will use often than choosing every size at once.
