Bialetti Venus is a stovetop moka pot with a rounded stainless steel body, available in silver and copper-coloured PVD finishes in 2-cup, 4-cup and 6-cup sizes. The 2-cup model suits smaller batches; the 4-cup and 6-cup models work directly on induction as well as open flame, electric hotplates and ceramic hobs.

The Venus body is made from 18/10 stainless steel, with a heat-resistant, anti-slip handle, a spout designed to reduce drips and a Bialetti easy-clean safety valve. Once brewing is complete, serve directly from the upper chamber; the spout and handle make lifting and pouring the coffee easier.

The appearance of silver and copper-coloured PVD

Silver shows the natural metallic shine of stainless steel. The copper-coloured model uses a PVD process to attach a thin layer of metal to the stainless steel surface, creating its copper appearance. Both colours offer the same capacity and heat-source choices, and the copper-coloured body is also stainless steel.

The inside of the lower chamber has a matt stainless steel finish, while the upper chamber collects coffee flowing from the central column. Venus follows the moka method of adding water to the lower chamber and grounds to the basket before heating on a hob. Drink the coffee directly, or add hot water or milk to adjust your serving size.

Capacity and induction compatibility

“Cups” is a moka-pot sizing unit and does not refer to the capacity of a standard coffee cup. The brewed coffee volumes in the table are approximate and vary with the amount of water, ground coffee and grind size. Choose by the total amount you want to brew at each use.

Use and cleaning

First use and brewing

Before first use, rinse all components with clean water, then brew and discard three batches of coffee before drinking from the pot. Hold the body when unscrewing or tightening the chambers; do not use the handle as a lever.

1. Add clean water to the lower chamber, keeping the water level below the safety valve, then insert the funnel basket.
2. Loosely fill the basket with coffee ground for a moka pot without tamping, and remove any grounds from the rim.
3. Tighten the upper and lower chambers and heat over low to medium heat. With an open flame, keep the flame within the base of the pot.
4. When the coffee has finished flowing, turn off the heat and remove the pot from the heat source. Stir before serving. Wait until the body has cooled before unscrewing it for washing.

Cleaning and storage

Once completely cool, unscrew the chambers and remove the basket. Hand-wash with warm water and a soft sponge. Remove coffee residue from the basket, filter and central column in the upper chamber, then let all components dry thoroughly before storing.

Do not put Venus in a dishwasher. In particular, keep dishwasher detergent and abrasive materials away from the copper-coloured PVD surface. Hold the pot by the handle while heating and avoid heating it without water in the lower chamber.
