Product Introduction

V60 MUGEN brews 1–2 cups of pour-over coffee with one slow, continuous pour, making it a good choice if you want fewer pouring stages. The transparent black resin and white ceramic versions share this brewing method and both use V60 02 cone-shaped filter papers.

Close-fitting filter paper and star-shaped grooves

MUGEN has fine star-shaped grooves inside. The paper filter sits close to the wall, and coffee flows slowly along the grooves towards the bottom. This adds flow restriction and extends contact between the water and coffee grounds, supporting a brewing rhythm of one pour followed by waiting for the coffee to drain.

The classic V60’s spiral ribs leave air passages beside the filter paper, making it suitable for exploring different pouring rhythms. MUGEN combines close-fitting paper with slower flow for recipes using a single pour. Choose according to how much pouring you want to do during brewing.

Two materials, the same brewing structure

The transparent black resin version makes the inside easy to see; the white ceramic version is made from Arita ware. Both include a removable polypropylene holder for placing the dripper securely on a coffee cup or server. With the holder removed, the body can be used on a suitable dripper stand.

Product Specifications

Dimensions are listed as width × depth × height. Both versions use V60 02 cone-shaped filter papers and are made in Japan. The resin body is heat-resistant up to 90°C; the polypropylene holder is heat-resistant up to 120°C.

Use and Cleaning

The manufacturer’s starter recipe for a single pour

1. Fold a V60 02 filter along its seam and place it in the dripper. Check that the body and holder are fitted together securely, then place the dripper securely on a server.
2. Wet the entire paper filter with hot water to preheat the brewer, then discard the water collected in the server. For the resin version, keep the water temperature within its 90°C heat-resistance rating.
3. Add 20 g of medium-fine ground coffee and gently shake to level the bed.
4. Pour 240 mL of hot water slowly in one continuous pour, moving in circles from the centre of the coffee bed outwards. This recipe has no separate blooming stage.
5. Remove the dripper after the coffee drains. Use this recipe as a starting point, then adjust coffee amount, grind size and water amount to suit your beans and taste.

Cleaning and Storage

Wash the brewer before first use. After each brew, let the body cool and remove the paper filter and grounds. Wash with a soft sponge and neutral detergent, rinse thoroughly and air-dry. The manuals for both versions state that they are dishwasher-safe; place them according to your dishwasher’s instructions.

Avoid impacts and sudden temperature changes with the ceramic version. To wash the holder separately, let the brewer cool, turn it upside down, hold the longer end of the holder and press the edge of the bottom opening to remove it. Check that the body and holder are fitted securely when reassembling.
