Summary
Kalita designed this electric grinder to reduce common workflow issues such as static-related mess and operating noise. Kalita presents the NEXT G2 electric coffee grinder with an integrated static-elimination system. The NEXT G2 also uses a low-speed grinding system with ceramic burrs and 15 grind settings. The lower motor speed is intended to limit frictional heating and noise while supporting a controlled particle distribution. These features reduce rather than eliminate static, heat, fines and sound, and cup results depend on the coffee, setting and recipe. The NEXT G2 is made in Japan and is rated for Japanese domestic power only.
Product Features
Kalita NEXT G2 Electric Coffee Grinder
Static-Elimination System
The NEXT G2 uses an ion-based static-elimination system near the grounds outlet. It is intended to reduce powder scattering and grounds adhering to the body and catch cup. Effectiveness varies with coffee, humidity, grind setting and cleanliness; some retention and static should still be expected.
Ceramic Burrs & Low-Speed Grinding
The NEXT G2 uses ceramic cutting burrs and a motor whose speed is listed as reduced to 50% of the compared conventional model. Lower speed is intended to reduce frictional heating, operating noise and variation in particle size. It does not preserve every aroma or guarantee uniform grounds; burr condition, coffee and setting still matter.
15 Grind Settings (15-Step)
The NEXT G2 provides 15 marked grind settings for filter-brewing methods. The dial helps users return to a previous position, but the same number will not give identical extraction with every coffee. Dial in for the beans, brewer, dose and desired flow.
Made in Japan: Reliability & Quality Control
Kalita lists the NEXT G2 as made in Japan. Country of manufacture provides useful provenance but does not guarantee unlimited service life or fault-free operation. Follow the rated duty time, electrical requirements, cleaning instructions and current warranty terms.
Lower-Speed Motor and Colour Options (Quiet & Stylish Design)
The NEXT G2 motor runs more slowly than the referenced conventional model, which is intended to reduce operating noise. It is not silent, and perceived sound depends on beans, surface and room acoustics. Product colours may include khaki and royal blue; confirm the selected variant because colour availability changes.
Product Details
Kalita NEXT G2: Electric Grinder with Static Reduction
Grinding is an important part of a repeatable brewing workflow. The Kalita NEXT G2 combines static reduction, low-speed operation, ceramic burrs and marked grind adjustment to address mess, sound and particle-control concerns. It reduces these issues rather than eliminating them, so weighing, dialling in and regular cleaning remain necessary.
Managing Grounds: NEXT G2 Static Reduction
Static can make coffee grounds scatter or cling to the outlet and catch cup. The NEXT G2 is designed to reduce this behaviour, helping keep the grinding area easier to maintain. Humidity, roast, coffee freshness and cleaning can change the result.
How the Static-Elimination System Works
An ion generator in the NEXT G2 acts on grounds as they pass through the outlet, reducing the static charge produced during grinding. Grounds may fall more directly into the catch cup, but the system cannot guarantee zero scatter or zero retention.
Cleaner Does Not Mean Zero Retention
Do not assume that 20 g of beans will always produce exactly 20 g of grounds. Some material can remain in the hopper, burr chamber or outlet, and moisture may also change measured mass. Weigh the output when dose accuracy matters and clean the grinder safely.
Low-Speed Grinding and Frictional Heat
Grinding creates heat through friction, and lower motor speed is one way to limit that heat. The practical effect on aroma depends on dose, runtime, beans, ambient temperature and burr condition; no grinder can preserve every volatile compound.
Why Grinding Heat Matters
High-speed or extended grinding can raise the temperature of the grounds. This may affect aroma and handling, but descriptions such as coffee being “burned” by ordinary grinding overstate the evidence. Use the grinder within its rated duty time and allow it to cool as instructed.
Ceramic Burrs and Thermal Response
The NEXT G2 uses ceramic cutting burrs together with a low-speed motor. Ceramic has different thermal behaviour from common metals, while total heat also depends on motor load, burr geometry, dose and runtime. This design aims to limit heat and support particle control; it is not a “cold-processing” guarantee or proof of complete flavour preservation.
Why Particle Distribution Matters
Different particle sizes extract at different rates. Excess fines can slow drawdown and contribute bitterness or astringency, while very coarse particles may extract less. The final cup also depends on water, agitation, brewer, filter and recipe, so particle uniformity is only one variable.
Kalita's Cutting-Burr Approach
The NEXT G2 ceramic burr teeth are designed to cut the beans in a controlled manner. This aims to improve particle distribution compared with indiscriminate crushing, but no setting produces perfectly identical particles.
Managing Fines for Filter Brewing
The NEXT G2 is intended to limit excessive fines through its burr design and lower-speed operation. Fines will still be present, and their effect changes with the coffee, setting and brewer. If drawdown stalls or the cup tastes harsh, adjust one variable at a time rather than assuming the grinder alone is responsible.

Important Safety Information for the Kalita NEXT G2 Electric Grinder:
This product is rated for Japanese mains voltage and the manufacturer specifies use in Japan only. Do not connect it directly to Hong Kong or another incompatible supply. Use only a properly earthed, certified step-down transformer with sufficient continuous wattage and the correct input/output voltage, frequency and plug arrangement. An adaptor alone does not convert voltage. If unsure, ask a qualified electrician. Incorrect voltage or an unsuitable transformer can cause malfunction, electric shock, overheating, fire or permanent damage. Confirm the appliance label, transformer rating and local requirements before use.
Transformer Information and Specifications
SUPER CT-1000 Transformer The source lists the transformer for conversion between 110V and 220V supplies for imported appliances. Confirm the required direction, input/output voltage, frequency, grounding, plug type and continuous-load rating; compatibility is not universal. Listed features include:
- Up to 1000W Listed Output: The source lists support for appliances within the transformer's rated load. Do not size a transformer solely to an appliance's headline wattage; allow suitable continuous-load headroom and follow the transformer manufacturer's instructions. Never exceed its rating.
- Protection: The source lists overload protection in the CT-1000. This is a secondary safeguard, not permission to overload the transformer or use incompatible equipment, and it does not establish protection from every high- or low-voltage condition.
- Design and Size: The listed transformer weighs 8 kg and measures 210mm × 340mm × 140mm. Place it upright on a stable, ventilated, heat-resistant surface with adequate clearance; its weight and size should be planned for before installation.
Intended Use: The SUPER CT-1000 is listed for compatible imported appliances within its electrical ratings. Check each appliance separately; country of origin alone does not establish compatibility.
Use Recommendation: Once the connected appliance has been safely switched off, turn off and unplug the transformer after use. Allow it to cool and never cover ventilation openings.

F&Q
Q1: What must I check before using this grinder in Hong Kong?
A1: Important: this is a Japanese domestic model rated at AC100V. In Hong Kong, where the supply is 220V, you must use a properly specified, certified step-down transformer from 220V to 100V/110V. The source suggests 100W or above, but selection must be based on continuous rating, suitable headroom, grounding, frequency, plug arrangement and the current instructions—not wattage alone. Incorrect voltage can damage the motor immediately and can also create shock, heat or fire risk.
Q2: How should I clean the burrs?
A2: Switch off and unplug the grinder. For routine cleaning, use the supplied brush, if included, to remove loose grounds around the outlet and burr area. For deeper cleaning, remove parts only as instructed in the current manual and clean with a brush or hand blower. Never wash with water the burrs or the inside of the grinder. Do not use compressed air unless the manufacturer permits it, as this can drive debris deeper or damage components.
Q3: Is this grinder suitable for espresso?
A3: The source listing does not recommend it for espresso. The NEXT G2 grind range is intended mainly for filter methods such as pour-over, French press and siphon, and its finest setting may not provide the adjustment range required by a pressurised espresso machine.
Q4: What are the main differences between the NEXT G2 and the previous NEXT G?
A4: The source highlights the NEXT G2 static-elimination function, lower-speed operation, reduced noise and updated colour options. Confirm current specifications for both models before relying on a generational comparison.
Q5: Can grinding be stopped midway?
A5: The main switch can stop grinding. The source also describes a gate below the hopper for controlling bean flow. Stop and unplug the grinder before removing or adjusting parts, and follow the current manual; do not remove the catch cup or place hands near moving parts while the motor is running.

Let customers speak for us
from 42 reviewsI’ve been using this sharing cup for my single-origin filter coffee, and it has genuinely enhanced the drinking experience. The wide, flared shape seems to concentrate and amplify the coffee’s aroma, making each sip more expressive. I also find that the coffee tastes noticeably sweeter, with better clarity and balance.
The deep blue glaze is beautiful and gives the cup a handcrafted, premium feel. It’s comfortable to hold, and the size is just right for enjoying a carefully brewed cup of coffee. A wonderful piece for anyone who enjoys specialty coffee and appreciates ceramics that combine aesthetics with functionality.
I’ve ordered 4 small size cups (2 as gifts for my friends). They really liked the cups.
Coffee Stage was very professional in handling my queries. They had to constantly mediate between me and the manufacturer of my product and never missed a second in helping me with my problems. The Kaleido M2 was an amazing purchase and the shopping experience was made wonderful by Coffee Stage. Thank you so much
