Sharing Cup Bulk Customization | Making Hong Kong Ceramic Cups for Cafes, Weddings and Events

Since last year, we have received inquiries from cafes, friends who are preparing to open stores, and guests who are planning weddings:Can Coffee Stage Sharing Cup be made in batches?

Some people hope to prepare a batch of cups for the new cafe that are truly suitable for daily use and can represent the style of the store; there are also couples who like the appearance of the Sharing Cup and the local production background in Hong Kong, and hope to give a pair of cups to guests or keep them as souvenirs that can be used after the wedding.

We’ve always felt that souvenirs don’t have to be just for one day. If an object has both appearance and practicality, it can carry a story on the day of a wedding or store opening, and can also be used in daily life thereafter.

Recently, our process and production rhythm are gradually catching up, so we are now able to accept bulk customization inquiries for Sharing Cups in a more systematic way.

Multiple batches of Sharing Cups being produced are arranged on a wooden shelf in the Coffee Stage studio.

Which customers are suitable to inquire about batch production?

Cafes, coffee shops and new store openings

If you are preparing to open a store, in addition to the appearance of the cups, you also need to know when a batch of cups will be completed, so that purchasing, bar testing and colleagues can have a clearer schedule.

We can first confirm the production direction one by one according to the expected number of cups, usage situation, cup shape, glaze color and required date. Each batch of finished handmade ceramics will have subtle differences in glaze color and texture; this is also the personality of the utensils. However, if the store needs to have a unified vision, we will clearly explain the feasible range before formal production.

Wedding commemorations, paired gifts and guest return gifts

Rather than giving a gift that only appears on the wedding day, some couples hope that guests will still pick it up for coffee or tea afterwards.

Sharing Cup is designed and produced in Hong Kong. It can be used as a pair of commemorative cups, or engraving, packaging, blessing words or commemorative text can be negotiated according to order. The actual text position, typesetting, packaging materials and time required will be confirmed item by item before quoting.

Event or brand gifts

If the event wishes to use an artifact with both local production background and daily use, you can also provide us with the quantity, purpose and delivery time. We will first determine whether the current production arrangements are suitable and then respond to possible directions.

What items can be negotiated for bulk ordering?

  • Size and cup shape: Negotiable based on serving size, usage of the cafe, or gift giving needs.
  • Glaze color: The actual optional combinations are confirmed based on the materials and production arrangements at the time.
  • Batch engraving: Text, location and process feasibility negotiable.
  • Packaging arrangement: You can confirm the packaging direction according to cafe, wedding or event use.
  • Blessings or commemorative words: You can add statements that the newcomer wishes to put in the package.
  • Quotation: Quantity, style, engraving, packaging and delivery need to be confirmed individually; bulk orders may have corresponding discounts, but there is no fixed discount.

The photos record the process of making the cup and do not represent the final packaging style. Formal packaging will be confirmed separately based on the content of each order.

Why does it usually take about two months to estimate the quantity within 100 pieces?

"Two months" sounds like a long time, but this time is not just about placing orders in the studio and waiting.

From the beginning of a Coffee Stage Sharing Cup to the moment it is ready for delivery, multiple processes need to be completed in sequence:

process things we need to accomplish
01 Injection molding Use a mold to make the cup body and sort out the shape and the locations that need trimming.
02 dry Let the cup body dry gradually to avoid excessive changes in internal and external moisture.
03 Grilled Complete the first firing first to prepare for subsequent glazing.
04 Glazing and Glazing Arrange the glaze according to the glaze color, and then perform glaze firing.
05 QC inspection Check the condition of finished products, organize the cups that can be delivered, and then arrange packaging.

Different sizes and glaze colors may not be completed at the same pace; the arrangement in the kiln, the status of each batch of finished products, engraving and packaging needs will also affect the actual time. Therefore,Within 100 pieces, it is generally estimated to take about two months. This is an estimate of the production period, not a fixed delivery date.

The official schedule will still be responded to based on quantity, size combination, glaze color, engraving, packaging requirements and production progress when the order is confirmed.

Why can’t some orders simply be expedited?

Handmade ceramics does not mean that if each step is arranged closer, it can be completed safely and faster.

The cup body needs time to dry after being formed, and bisque firing, glazing and glaze firing also need to be adapted to the actual conditions. If the compression drying or firing rhythm is excessive, the risk of cracks or production loss may be increased. If you rush through one step, the entire batch of cups will need to be remade, and in the end the gain outweighs the gain.

Therefore, if there is a store opening date, wedding date or event date, the most practical way is to tell us in advance. Some orders can be arranged according to the current schedule, but we will not compress necessary processes in exchange for superficial speed.

How do we view clay, glaze and tableware safety?

The cup we make must first be a cup that we are willing to use every day.

Because I personally use every product, I don’t want a cup to just look beautiful when received, but put the material and long-term use behind it. For Coffee Stage, food contact safety and quality are not add-ons after completion, but a production principle that starts with material selection.

We use clays and glazes suitable for tableware applications and do not use materials from unknown sources or low quality. The glaze we use does not contain lead and we keep relevant certification documents.

This statement is for the glaze we use; we will not extend the certification to unspecified test values, regulatory standards or other ingredient claims. For us, clearly explaining the material information that we can confirm is as important as making the product good.

Cafe and wedding orders, how should I reserve time?

If the quantity is less than 100 pieces, you can make a preliminary budget for a production period of about two months, and then reserve the time required for enquiries, confirmation of styles, quotation, engraving or packaging, and delivery arrangements.

It is recommended to contact you earlier in the following situations:

  • Multiple sizes or glaze color combinations required
  • Need engraving, blessing text or special packaging
  • There is a store opening date, wedding date or event date that cannot be changed
  • The team needs to first test the cup shape or confirm the physical direction.
  • Quantity is close to 100 pieces, or you want to deliver in batches

We will reply with an estimated schedule after understanding the order content. All dates are still subject to official confirmation.

When making inquiries, please prepare four pieces of information first

  1. Estimated quantity: For example, how many pairs are needed for a cafe, or how many pairs are needed for a wedding.
  2. Required date: Store opening, wedding, event or date you would like to receive your order.
  3. Size and glaze color direction: Cup shape, color or combination you want to make.
  4. Engraving and packaging requirements: Whether you need engraving, blessing words, commemorative text or special packaging.

The more complete the information, the easier it is for us to determine feasibility, estimated production time and quotation.
