When I see the five options of Coffee Stage Sharing Cup for the first time, the most common question that arises is: do they just have different capacities, or do the higher the price, the more functions?
In fact, Sharing Cup S Size, Sharing Cup M Size, Sharing Cup L Size, Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Sharing Cup Beta Size respectively respond to different drinking portions, brewing methods and aroma needs. When choosing a cup, you don’t have to “upgrade” from the cheapest all the way, and you don’t have to only consider the top three just because you are a novice.
You just need to answer three things first:Approximately how much you drink each time, whether you will brew directly on the cup, and whether you want to put the aroma experience as an important factor in choosing a cup. If you have a sufficient budget, or you want to explore the aroma of coffee directly from the beginning, Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Sharing Cup Beta Size can also be your first Sharing Cup.
If what you need is a large milk coffee cup with a handle, an office cup that can be put in the dishwasher or microwave, the entire Sharing Cup series may not be suitable; if you value small-portion drinking, direct hand pouring, thin cup rims, or aroma exploration, it is worth continuing to compare.

Choose a cup in 30 seconds: first look at usage, then budget
- Sharing Cup S Size: Espresso, Kung Fu tea, a small amount of coffee or wine, and a pot of drinks divided into small cups to taste.
- Sharing Cup M Size: About 170ml of coffee or tea each time, hoping to balance capacity, mouthfeel and daily use.
- Sharing Cup L Size: About 300ml at a time, put the ordinary filter cup or ear-hanging bag directly on the cup to brew, or you want to reduce the need for pots and other utensils.
- Sharing Cup Alpha Size: I hope that daily capacity and aroma design can coexist; the recessed cup mouth allows the nose to naturally approach the cup when drinking, and ear-hanging bags can also be used.
- Sharing Cup Beta Size: If you want to prioritize aroma exploration, use the central aroma column to compare changes in coffee from hot to cold, and accept the limitations of the smaller capacity and hanging ear.
First question: How much do you actually drink each time?

Small portions, Espresso, Kung Fu tea or small amounts of wine: look at Sharing Cup S Size first
Sharing Cup S Size is about 60–65ml. The point is not to hold the entire hand brew at once, but to pour a small amount of drinks at a time. We designed the cup rim to be about 2mm thin, hoping to reduce the presence of the lips when they come into contact with the cup rim, making it easier to focus on the drink itself; the actual experience will still vary depending on the user.
If you drink a pot of coffee in several portions, the Sharing Cup S Size allows you to pour smaller portions each time and feel the changes in temperature and flavor one at a time. It's also suitable for espresso, kung fu tea, and small amounts of sake, whiskey, or plum wine. If you are used to drinking more than 150ml at a time, you can look at other styles first.
About 170ml, mainly coffee or tea: first look at Sharing Cup M Size
Sharing Cup M Size is suitable for daily servings of approximately 170ml. We continue the concept of thin cup rims in the cup body, and use the curvature to guide the liquid to flow close to the cup wall toward the mouth of the cup, hoping to bring a continuous and natural entrance feeling; this is our design direction, and the actual experience will still vary depending on the drink and drinking method.
If you usually pour coffee into a sharing pot first and then drink it slowly in two or three times; or if you only need about 150–170ml of coffee or tea each time, Sharing Cup M Size is an easier daily choice. If you need 250–350ml on weekdays, you should look at Sharing Cup L Size or other large-capacity cups first.
About 300ml at a time, if you want to pour it directly into the cup: first look at Sharing Cup L Size
Sharing Cup L Size has a marked capacity of about 300–330ml, and we recommend a holding capacity of about 300ml, which is the largest capacity in the series. It can directly handle hand-brewed coffee, eliminating the need for an extra pot. It should be noted that the final product volume of hand-brewed coffee is usually lower than the total water injection amount, because some water will remain in the coffee powder and filter paper; the actual liquid level will also be affected by the powder amount, water injection amount and drip stop time.
The cup rim of Sharing Cup L Size is about 3–4mm, which is slightly thicker than Sharing Cup S Size and Sharing Cup M Size. This is a trade-off between the structural stability of large-capacity ceramics and the thin feel.

Second question: Will you use a regular filter cup or an ear-mounted bag?
These two brewing methods need to be considered separately, without first memorizing a powder-to-water ratio or a series of numbers.
Generally, the filter cup is placed directly on the cup: first look at Sharing Cup L Size
If you want to place the ordinary hand-pour filter cup directly on the drinking cup, the recommended capacity of the Sharing Cup L Size is about 300ml, which is easier to reserve space and can also save the need for a pot. However, the base diameter, weight and anti-slip method of each filter cup are different, so you should still confirm whether the filter cup can be placed stably on the mouth of the cup before placing an order.
Ear bag: Sharing Cup L Size and Sharing Cup Alpha Size are both available
- Sharing Cup L Size: Suitable for people who put capacity and convenience first, with plenty of space reserved inside the cup.
- Sharing Cup Alpha Size: Suitable for people who want to use an ear-hanging bag and also want to experience the recessed cup mouth and aroma design; the capacity is about 230ml.
The demonstration in the video uses a packContains approximately 15g coffee powderof ear-hanging bag, adding a total ofAbout 225g water. 15g is the weight of coffee powder; 225g is the total water filling amount recorded by the electronic scale, not the final weight of coffee in the cup. This set of numbers is only used to explain the demonstration conditions in the video. The most important things when choosing a cup are your brewing volume, the shape of the ear bag and whether there is enough space in the cup.
In this demonstration, the ear-mounted bag can be placed at the mouth of the Sharing Cup L Size without the liquid level touching the bottom of the bag; we also demonstrated tapered and square ear-mounted structures. Other brands have different arm distances, bag body lengths, powder amounts and water filling methods, and the actual results may also be different.
The central aroma column of the Sharing Cup Beta Size will hold up against the center-mounted ear-hanging bag. Moving the ear-hanging bag aside may change the original water filling and soaking status, so we do not recommend using the Sharing Cup Beta Size as the main ear-hanging coffee cup.
Third question: Do you value daily volume, or do you want to explore aroma directly?
This is not a single route of "novice model" and "advanced model", but two cup selection directions: Sharing Cup S Size, M Size and L Size start with the portion size and brewing method; Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Beta Size add the cup rim, nose, space above the liquid level and aroma experience to the selection.
If you have a sufficient budget, or the main reason you buy this cup is to feel the aroma of coffee more directly, there is no need to start with Sharing Cup S Size, M Size or L Size. Both Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Sharing Cup Beta Size can be directly chosen as the first choice: the former is easier to balance daily use with ear bags; the latter is more focused on the exploration of drinks brought by the central aroma column.
If you want to first understand why the cup shape, cup rim and space above the liquid level in the cup may affect sensory scores, you can read How to choose a coffee cup? Cup Shape and Aroma Guide。
Sharing Cup Alpha Size: about 230ml, integrating aroma design into daily drinking
Generally, when drinking from a cup, the nose mostly stays outside the cup, or only approaches the mouth of the cup briefly when the cup is close to the mouth. When we designed Sharing Cup Alpha Size, we did not try to push the aroma out of the cup, but added a recessed position at the mouth of the cup to reserve a space for the nose to naturally approach the inside of the cup.
This recess is not simply an exterior decoration. When drinking from the concave side, the nose can be close to the cup while maintaining the natural movement of drinking coffee, shortening the distance between the nose and the space above the liquid surface, hoping to make it easier for users to pay attention to the original aroma of the drink. The actual experience will still be affected by coffee, temperature, face shape, nose shape and personal sense of smell.
Sharing Cup Alpha Size is about 230ml. There is no central aroma column in the cup, so it retains a complete holding space. You can also use an ear-hanging bag. It is suitable for people who want their first cup to be used for daily coffee, tea, ear-hanging bags and aroma exploration; if the budget allows but you don’t want to choose a cup only based on capacity, Sharing Cup Alpha Size will be a more comprehensive choice.

Sharing Cup Beta Size: Approximately 190ml, use the central aroma column to further explore the aroma
Sharing Cup Beta Size has the same external dimensions as Sharing Cup Alpha Size, but a one-piece central aroma column of about 5cm high and 2cm wide is added to the cup, so the capacity is reduced to about 190ml.
In our daily use, a small amount of drink that comes into contact with the central column wets the surface and leaves a thin layer. We added a central aroma column, hoping to bring part of the surface wetted by the drink closer to the nose, so that users can pay more attention to the aroma change of coffee from hot to cold. It will not create aroma substances for coffee that do not originally exist; currently we have not quantified the amount of aroma volatilization or sensory enhancement brought about by this structure.
If you have put aroma experience first when choosing a cup, like to compare bean types, processing methods and temperature changes, and accept the limitations of about 190ml capacity, central structure, and hanging ears, Sharing Cup Beta Size can directly become your first choice without purchasing other sizes first.

Quick selection based on user context
This is my first purchase and I don’t know if I need a scent cup.
Start by measuring how much you actually drink on a daily basis. For about 150-170ml, see Sharing Cup M Size; for about 300ml, see Sharing Cup L Size. When using the ear-hanging bag, you can choose Sharing Cup L Size or Alpha Size: if you need a larger capacity and more space, look for the former; if you also pay attention to the fragrance design, look for the latter.
If you have a sufficient budget and you want to experience the aroma orientation from the first cup, Sharing Cup Alpha Size is a more widely used choice for daily use; if you have clearly prioritized the central aroma column and more concentrated aroma exploration, you can also directly choose Sharing Cup Beta Size.
Already have a stable habit of hand washing
If the actual finished product is about 150–170g each time and you can drink it directly, you can first compare Sharing Cup M Size; if the total water filling amount is close to 300g when brewing by hand and you want to directly take over, you can look at Sharing Cup L Size, but the final product is usually less than the total water filling amount. Pour it into the pot first, and then observe the temperature change with a small portion, see Sharing Cup S Size. If you want to include cup size as a drinking variable, you can directly compare Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Beta Size.
Purchase as a gift
It’s best to know what brewing method the other person uses before giving a gift. If you like espresso, tea or a small amount of wine, check out the Sharing Cup S Size; if you like regular coffee or tea and have a small portion, check out the Sharing Cup M Size; if you prefer large-capacity hanging bags for the office or direct hand brewing, check out the Sharing Cup L Size; if you use hanging bags and value the aroma of coffee and Hong Kong handmade utensils, check out the Sharing Cup Alpha Size. Sharing Cup Beta Size has a more obvious purpose and is suitable for people who like to compare coffee aroma, cup shape and new structure.

Why do capacities appear as both ml and g?
The volume of a cup is expressed in ml; an electronic scale displays mass, expressed in g. Manual brewing users are accustomed to using electronic scales to record the total amount of water added or the quality of the finished coffee, so the video uses both units.
For water-based coffee, ml and g can be used as daily approximate references, but 170g or 190g cannot be used to estimate the exact volume of the cup, nor does it mean that it is recommended to fill it to the mouth of the cup; these figures are not the weight of the cup. The cup mouth space should be reserved for actual use.
Common restrictions you still need to know before placing an order
- We design and handcraft Sharing Cups in Hong Kong, glaze colour, texture, capacity and size of the finished product may vary slightly.
- The entire series cannot be placed in the dishwasher, and it is not recommended to put it in the microwave oven.
- It is recommended to use clean water, a soft sponge and a neutral detergent for hand washing, and avoid wire brushing and rapid hot and cold switching.
- We currently adopt a pre-sale method; the actual production and shipping time will be affected by the order quantity, glaze color and kiln firing results. Please refer to the latest information displayed on the product page and when placing an order.
FAQ
Is the Sharing Cup Beta Size that sells the most necessarily the best?
no. The selling price reflects the structure, production and product positioning, and does not mean that every user should choose the same model. If you value large capacity and convenience, the Sharing Cup L Size may be more suitable; if you want a better balance between aroma and daily use, look at the Sharing Cup Alpha Size; if you put the central aroma column and aroma exploration first, choose the Sharing Cup Beta Size.
Do I have to choose Sharing Cup M Size for my first Sharing Cup?
uncertain. Sharing Cup M Size is suitable for about 170ml of coffee or tea; for espresso and small portions, you can choose Sharing Cup S Size; for direct hand brewing, you can choose Sharing Cup L Size; if you have a sufficient budget and value aroma, you can directly choose Sharing Cup Alpha Size or Beta Size. There is no single answer that all newbies must follow.
Are all five suitable for coffee, tea and wine?
Different drinks still have primary and secondary uses. Sharing Cup S Size is more flexible for small portions of coffee, tea and a small amount of wine; Sharing Cup M Size is mainly for coffee and tea; Sharing Cup L Size is more suitable for large portions of hand brewing and hanging ears; Sharing Cup Alpha Size and Beta Size are mainly for exploring the aroma of coffee and tea. We haven't done enough wine testing of the Sharing Cup Beta Size yet to make a firm recommendation yet.
If you still can't decide, what is the minimum information you need to provide?
You only need to provide three items: daily drinking volume, main brewing method, and whether aroma comparison is a priority. These three pieces of information are usually enough to narrow down the five models to one or two.
Still undecided? Consider your daily drinking volume, brewing method, and whether you value convenience or aroma more.Tell us via WhatsApp, we will help you narrow down the five models to one or two.
